We are currently evaluating open masks for SGRT pathway on the Halcyon. The Halcyon is a 6FFF beam, and we are finding that the buildup effect is higher for the open mask that we were considering. Has anyone done an assessment of open masks for 6FFF?
we are trialling different masks, but haven’t started using them yet. we would use with 6x and 10fff. are the masks thicker? could you just contour the mask in TPS and let it deal with it?

We are finding that the open mask that came out as favourable during evaluation is slightly thicker. With the combination of 6FFF and being slightly thicker, there is a risk of skin reaction. We were wondering what other centres had found. We are still dosimetrically testing the masks so work in progress.
